Scary for sure. What scares you most as a teacher and school reformer?

I’ve found it annoying and reductive that the fear of cheating pervades and often drives pedagogy. It’s also a boon for platforms (corporate profits) that profit from educator paranoia (Turnitin). Maybe it’s naive of me, but I presume that interesting, tailored, and in class joint (or solo) activities make cheating less worthwhile. I guess if I were teaching now, I’d figure out how to leverage the tech to create or foster original thinking. I’ve never put much faith in the predictive nature of SAT/GRE or even MCAT/LSAT and hate the prep industry that favors the already favored. However, I want the person doing my surgery and flying my plane to actually have the skills to do it. Another think that I think about is that if AI makes low paying jobs obsolete—or even blue color work like truck driving done with AI, what shall a progressive curriculum be, especially for the little kids? There are no answers. It’s hard to even frame a question. I do think you nailed a big issue in the context of AI: cheating. This is an iceberg of a cultural model or schema that is so familiar it’s immune from strange. But it’s an issue that has to be discussed.
