Thank you so much for having me! This episode gave me an opportunity to reevaluate the classroom environments and curriculum of my K-12 education. I know the learning experiences I had when I was younger can be improved and it all begins with educators who are willing to make changes in their own classrooms. On a more personal level, I hope that I will be able to use my experiences to shape my future students into people who think, read, and write for themselves as opposed to a test.

Thank you, Justin. I’m so pleased that this conversation was fruitful for you. I learned a lot about resilience from your story, and I’m positive your having passed through the highs and lows of public school will make you a wonderful high school history teacher. You’ve had several excellent teachers to draw on as models, and you certainly understand how important it is to listen to what students are really saying to their teachers. Please stop in to ltRRtl from time to time for a place to think about language and literacy in school.
