Dr. Hecsch knows schools from the bottom up. With a rich, hands-on background in school reform as a high school teacher during restructuring, a professor in a secondary school credential program during a period of renewal, and an active presence in faculty governance at a state university during a paradigm shift in accreditation, she sees the big picture of school reform in California. Her dissertation, which she discusses in this talk, was written during the golden age of reform in the state during the 1990s. In this podcast she weaves together lines of thinking about reform that are especially relevant today.
